Vampire Weekend Releases “Horchata” Single
It’s four months before their anxiously awaited new album, “Contra”, is released, but indie cute-sters Vampire Weekend are already putting out a tenth of the album for free.
The song “Horchata” was released on the band’s official website yesterday around 1pm as a free download, along with details about an added tour for the album.
The song sounds very islandy, with some of the same vibes and “oooh” vocals as “Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa”, off of their debut, self-titled album. There’s a little more of a “toy” vibe to it than Vampire Weekend has played with before (no pun intended), but they still hold quite true to their sound. You can check out this lil’ beauty by clicking on the link down below.
The tour dates for their 14-day run are, somewhat frustratingly, all centered in either California or other countries, which is due to the state’s influence on “Contra” mentioned by singer Ezra Koenig in an interview with Pitchfork media. Them dates can be found down below too:
- 10-06 Montreal, Quebec - Le National
- 10-08 Toronto, Ontario - Horseshoe Tavern
- 10-15 London, England - King’s College
- 10-22 Paris, France - Nouveau Casino
- 11-02 Long Beach, CA - The Art Theater
- 11-05 Pioneertown, CA - Pappy and Harriet’s
- 11-07 Lafayette, CA - Town Hall Theatre
- 11-08 Santa Cruz, CA - Catalyst
- 11-09 Visalia, CA - The Cellar Door
- 11-10 San Luis Obispo, CA - Downtown Brew

Scarlet Johansson: One of the Prettiest Actresses Singers Around
As if you needed another reason to fall helplessly in love with her.
Though she is most prominently recognized for her acting endeavors, it’s a little known fact that Scarlett Johansson has been working with music for some time now. Starting in 2006, she recorded a song called “Summertime” for a charity album, then performed with Jesus and the Mary Chain in 2007 for a reunion show at Coachella.
However, as far as original compositions go, ScarJo had nothing to show— until this past month. September 15th brought “Break Up” , a collaboration between Johansson and singer-songwriter Pete Yorn, into the world with a very warm reception. In all honesty, ScarJo has not received very much love on the music front, but I personally believe the two artists work extremely well together. Perhaps it’s the five-piece band backing them up (very good chance of that), but either way, this is an album to take a peek at undoubtedly. You can check out the video for the single “Relator” from the album down below.
Key Tracks: “Search Your Heart”, “Relator”
Thanks for readin’ everyone! Tune in this weekend for a Showtime! post from the Brand New/Manchester Orchestra show :)
