Even More New Things From Animal Collective
Though it’s only been around 10 months since strange/manic/electronic band Animal Collective released their widely celebrated album Merriweather Post Pavilion, the four members are not quite finished with 2009 yet.
According to singer/guitarist/etc. Avey Tare, the digital release of an EP from the group titled Fall Be Kind should come in mid-November, with a physical release later on sometime in early December.
As AC has been known to do many times in the past, the record is comprised of songs the band has had in its memory banks for some time now. Songs such as “Bleed” and “On A Highway” have appeared on the band’s setlists from the many shows they have played around the world in honor of Merriweather.
However, probably the most intriguing part about the record is the second track, (oddly) titled “What Would I Want? Sky”, which features the very first licensed sample from a Grateful Dead song. According to Avey Tare, the band had “started playing that song live this year. We jammed in Lisbon for our first tour this year and worked it out. We decided we would record it for the EP.” Though there is no current way to listen to the track, this will be a very big highlight of Fall Be Kind, undoubtedly.
AC have not provided a definitive release date yet besides the month of November, but they do assure that their self-admitted “darker” EP will come out before 2010. You can check out that tasty track list below:

“Mirror Mirror” by Ghinzu
Though I’ve found that the Genius Suggestions feature on the iTunes Store can be somewhat unreliable sometimes, I was completely proven wrong by its recommendation of the band called Ghinzu.
Ghinzu is a five-piece group, put together in 1999 in Belgium, that carries a certain bad-ass vibe throughout what they do. This is most present in their most recent release, called Mirror Mirror. Though the band’s earlier recordings were somewhat looser, this 2009 release shows that they have truly grown into their sound.
Ghinzu first grabbed a little bit of recognition at just the right time with the use of their song “The Dragster-Wave”, from the album Blow, in the January, 2009, movie Taken. Mirror Mirror was then released two months later in Belgium and should be released in the states in February. However, if you have access to certain…programs…the album can be accessed from that wonderful thing called the internet :)
In the meantime, check out “The Dragster-Wave” down below, and keep yo’ ears open for Mirror Mirror in the near future.
