“Heaven Can Wait” by Charlotte Gainsbourg and Beck
Even after producing ELEVEN whole freaking studio albums, singer/songwriter/scientologist Beck is still not yet done with music. His most recent endeavor (not counting his newly released song “Harry Partch”, written about the music producer and NOT the last British veteran from WW I, who seems to have created an all out war between Radiohead and Fiery Furnaces’ Matthew Friedberger), has been producing the third album for French actress/singer-songwriter Charlotte Gainsbourg. Though Beck had a hand in every song on the record, “Heaven Can Wait” features a full duet of the two artists which shows how great of a meshability they have.
The video specifically is freaking mind-altering. Director Keith Schofield puts together some really awesome and really strange scenes (e.g. a guy in a spongebob squarepants suit who gets tackled by a cop) that make for some fun watchings to go along with the fun music. Pitchfork Music basically pooped themselves in the article they wrote for the video (which they are prone to do with Beck’s work), saying that it’ll “make you rethink life on planet Earth.”
Though I my world wasn’t all that changed by this thing, I definitely had a fun time watching it, and I hope you all do too. Feel free to tell me what you think about it in the Disqus comment box down below :)
And thanks for checking in everybody! Check by tomorrow for a Showtime! post from the Flobots concert tonight at In The Venue too
