“Boy Lilikoi” by Jónsi

Before you ask, yes, Jónsi is the guys from Icelandic band Sigur Rós who has a wonky eye and plays his guitar with a bow. Though the band have reportedly finished recording their new album, their frontman has been hard at work on multiple, amazingly beautiful projects. The first of these has been with Jónsi’s boyfriend, Alex Somers, in a group now titled simply Jónsi & Alex, which contributed a track to the Dark Was The Night compilation under the moniker Riceboy Sleeps.

Now however, Jónsi happens to have a solo project that he has just brought to the surface- the first public introduction of which happens to be the song up above. The track itself has a distinctly cute sound to it that can be compared to Sigur Rós’s latest album,  Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust. Interestingly enough, the track is also in English (including the word “lilikoi”, which turns out to be a kind of passion fruit….yeah I had no idea either), something that Jónsi has only ever done on the final track of their aforementioned album. It’s definitely a very enjoyable track, a great soundtrack to a snowy day like the one I’m writing this on, I highly recommend paying a visit to Jónsi’s solo project website right here to recieve a downloadable version of the song and get updates about the project as things continue to happen.
